1982 Mercury 9.8 impeller service

I lost the first minute or so of video, just showing the destroyed pump. Boys and girls, change your impellers! The gent who owns this motor hadn't had it changed in 10 years! On these 9.8's the impeller is small and prone to failure, change it every 2-3 years. No need to shift into neutral, remove the 2 nuts holding the lower unit, one front and one rear. The lower unit drops down, 2 nuts hold the top of the pump cover on. Reassembly - use a zip tie to compress the impeller, dab some grease on the key and stick it to the impeller shaft. Slide the impeller on until it seat while removing the zip tie. Turn the drive shaft clockwise till the impeller vanes turn in the right direction. The water tube may come out with the lower unit, it needs to be pushed back up into the powerhead, then the lower unit is reinstalled, any other way will lead to non pumping. Hope this helps all yee owners of this model.
